Community HeaMeet Mark Dooley A New Voice for Community Healthcare lthcare

As the new Chief Executive at INTEGRIS Health Ponca City Hospital, I cannot begin to tell you how blessed my wife, Shelly, and I feel to be a part of this community. The welcome we have received has been tremendous, and we look forward to becoming active members of the community to help move Ponca City forward.

When people ask me who I am or what is important to me, my answer is easy. My faith in God always comes first, followed by my family and then my career. I had one of my mentors early in my career tell me that if I am working too many hours, I am neglecting my family, and I have tried to live that out in my career. Shelly and I are blessed with five grown children (and six grandchildren so far!), and one of the things I am most proud of is that I rarely missed a school or sports event in which one of my children participated. That time is something you only get one chance to enjoy.

I have worked in the healthcare field for more than 30 years and at the Chief Executive level for nearly 25 of those years. I grew up in Indiana around hospitals as my father was a hospital CEO for nearly 50 years before his retirement and my sister has been a nurse for 43 years. I have learned so much from my dad and other mentors throughout my career, and I hope to be able to put that wisdom to work in helping grow our hospital and our community.

Along with helping people live better lives, I love working in healthcare because you never know what the next day might bring. New opportunities come every day, and no one day is the same as the next. It reminds of a day in Ohio when I drove to work and realized that our rooster had ridden with me in the back of the truck. Not only did he decide to get out in the parking lot, he proceeded to run around on icy ground while half the hospital watched me chase him. Like I said, you never know what a new day might bring!

As I begin this monthly column, I plan to let you know more about my goals for the hospital, exciting things happening at INTEGRIS Health, some stories from my career and some of the amazing people I get to work with every day. There is a great team at INTEGRIS Health Ponca City Hospital who are ready to serve you in your time of need.

Next month I plan to expand on what is important to me. I had a great executive coach one time ask me what I want a “Mark Dooley hospital” to look like, and I look forward to sharing that answer with you.

I am so excited to serve this community and make INTEGRIS Health Ponca City Hospital the best it can be.

About Mark:

Mark Dooley is a seasoned healthcare executive with more than 25 years of experience at the Chief Executive level. He grew up in Indiana and is a graduate of Indiana State University with a Masters in Business Administration. Dooley has served as a hospital executive for both for-profit and not-for-profit health systems in Alabama, Indiana, Ohio, Florida and Oklahoma.

Mark is married to Shelly, a native of south Texas, and they have five children ranging in age from 25 to 35. They also are blessed with 6 grandchildren living in Alabama and Ohio. In their spare time the Dooleys enjoy traveling (preferably to the beach!) and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Mark and Shelly have relocated to Ponca City and look forward to becoming active in the community and in First Baptist Church Ponca City.
